Dom Communications Limited, yesterday celebrated the 5th and 15th Anniversary of the Nigerian Pilot newspaper/ Nigerian Newsworld magazine respectively, with the publisher of the sprawling media outfit, Prince Dennis Sami admitting that the news platforms have come of age, having been regular on the newsstands on daily basis in the past 5 and 15 years.
In a short remark to welcome the guests at the Anniversary Lecture / Award & Gala night held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Prince Sami reiterated that, “having come thus far, we will not relent in playing the role of watchdog of the society as clearly captured in Section 22, chapter 2 of the 1999 constitution, irrespective of who is involved.”
Prince Sami, in revisiting the history of the news platforms, explained to the gathering that the Nigerian Newsworld made its debut in 1993, while the Nigerian pilot newspaper came on board five years ago and that both titles have remained committed to the service of the people, “who rely on them for fresh and credible news.”
Prince Dennis Sami described the contributions put in by Nigerian Pilot and Nigerian Newsworld respectively in playing the role of the fourth realm of the estate as well as transforming the economy of the nation, as one done with true commitment to the development of the country.
He further stated that, “Nigerian Newsworld has given 15 years of nonstop production from which stable the Nigerian Pilot Newspaper has committed five years of robust journalism in Nigeria, stressing that it was incontrovertible that Nigerian Pilot which currently prints simultaneously from three locations of Abuja, Port Harcourt and Lagos, has become one of the best top five newspapers in the country.
He congratulated the awardees, including the Presidents of Liberia, Sirleaf Johnson, Ghanaian president John Mahama, immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Governors of Gombe and Nasarawa states, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, respectively for their service to humanity.
He also commended the editorial staff of the titles for their unrelenting effort and doggedness to duty, which resulted in the giant strides of the company.
