Nigerians serving in the British Metropolitan Police under the auspices of Nigeria Police Forum have pledged to work closely with the Nigeria Police under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Solomon Arase.
The Forum said its members have resolved to fashion-out ways to support their fatherland and consequently instituted ties between the Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Police Forum at the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom.
According to a statement issued yesterday by the Force spokesman and a Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, the group made the pledge when its members paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Police headquarters in Abuja.
Ojukwu said the visit was attended by the Police Adviser, British High Commission, Mr. Robert Hunter. Police Adviser, British Commission Abuja, Mr. Tom Outwaite, and Mrs, Matagrawa Nurata from the Ministry of Police Affairs in Abuja.
Arase revealed that the visit is a fall-out of an earlier trip to the Metropolitan Police and promised to create an enabling environment for fusion of ideas with the group to advance the intelligence and technological base of the Nigeria Police.
