Nike make-shift kits for the senior national team, the Super Eagles will arrive the country next week ahead of the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad billed to hold in Kaduna, NFF scribe, Sanusi Mohammed has said.
While the NIKE jersey are currently being used by the Flying Eagles at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand have generated ill feeling among Nigerian who believe that the Jersey does not depicts Nigeria’s Green- white green colour, NFF general secretary, Sanusi Mohammed disclosed to Nigerian Pilot Sports that corrections would be made as from next year as discussion to the effect with kits sponsor, NIKE have been concluded.
‘’We told you the difficulties the NFF has to getting kits for the national teams following the withdrawal by Adidas from sponsoring us. We were buying from the market, but with the new contract with NIKE which we entered very late and close to the U20 world cup, it was difficult for the Kits sponsor to immediately manufacture our exact jersey. They have to supply us with the design they already have on ground. This why you see the kind of jerseys the Flying Eagles are using in New Zealand. The Women National team in Canada has received their kits and that of the Super Eagles for the Chad match will come in next week.
‘’What NIKE have in stock is what they have supplied us. We signed contract recently and in the next competitions, we will use our real jerseys. NIKE has sent us the new design and we have made corrections. Kits for Falcons have arrived Canada and that of the Super Eagles will arrive next week.’’
