The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze weather conditions over the central states of the country on Saturday.

The predictions are contained in the Weather Outlook issued by NiMet’s Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Friday in Abuja.

It said that Abuja, Minna, Lokoja and Bida and its environs would have moderate visibility value of two to five kilometres with night time temperatures in the range of 15 to 22 degrees Celsius.

NiMet predicted that Southern cities would experience cloudy conditions over some places, with prospect of fog/mist patches over Lagos, Port Harcourt and Calabar in the morning.

It also predicted that partly cloudy conditions would prevail over the region in the afternoon with night time temperatures range of 18 to 25 degrees Celsius.

NiMet predicted that Northern cities would experience sunny and hazy condition with moderate visibility over Nguru, Kano, Katsina, Gusau and Sokoto with night time temperatures of between 12 to 18 degrees Celsius.

According to the prediction, sunny and hazy condition will prevail over the northern and central part of the country.

“However, cloudiness is anticipated over the southern cities due to influx of moisture laden winds from the Atlantic Ocean.

“During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty.

“Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks,” it added.

NiMet stated that flight operations might be disrupted due to poor visibility in some airports across the country. (NAN)
