The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has alerted that seven local governments in Sokoto State are prone to flooding in the 2015 raining season.

This is contained in a statement signed by , Mr Bashir Suleiman, the Sokoto Zonal Coordinator on Saturday.

It stated that the local governments which would be affected by flooding were Kware, Gwadabawa, Wamakko, Sabon-Birnmi, Silame, Dange/Shuni and Tureta.

The statement, therefore, urged all the relevant emergency management agencies in the state to be on red alert.

“This is with the view to taking the necessary precautionary measures in the event of the occurrence of the unexpected,’’ it stated. (NAN)
