Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal
Service, NIPOST, Dr. Richard Balami
has challenged senior management
staff of the organization to ponder over
the precarious situation of the service
and the enormous challenges that
threaten its survival.
He noted that as key decision
makers, the staff must be bold to admit
that their individual and collective
actions and inactions in the past, were
partly responsible for the sorry state
they have found themselves, hence the
need for sacrifices that would move the
union forward.
Balami who gave the task yesterday
in an address at the NIPOST Senior
Management Retreat tagged,
“Akwanga 2016” in Akwanga-
Nasarawa state, expressed his
commitment to turn the service into a
modern digital organization providing
maximum services to the people.
“We are in difficult times, requiring
tough decisions to catch up in the
technological revolution. We can no
longer afford to lag behind; especially
as the internet revolution is anchored
on the digitization of postal services”.
The NIPOST boss stressed the need
for them to exhibit innovative thinking
to address challenges and attract new
customer base, rather than the straightjacket
behaviour and bureaucratic road
blocks that some of them created for
their selfish egos.
He pointed out that rewards await
hardworking staff, warning that the
organization would not hesitate to
sanction those engaged in actions that
were detrimental to the progress of the
service.
