Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Kaduna State chapter, Dr. Mohammed Sani Ibrahim, yesterday, said none of it medical staff was sacked by the new administration of Malam Nasir El-Rufai, in the state.
Dr. Ibrahim made this known while reacting to speculations making the rounds in the state that El-Rufai dismissed a medical doctor after found guilty.
The Chairman described the allegation as false and called on the public to disregard the claim.
According to him, “It was true that El-Rufai carried out an unexpected visit around health facilities in the state but he did not sack any of our doctors.
“Instead, after the visit and at the ministerial briefing he expressed great pleasure over the conduct of the medical workers at the hospitals he visited.
“On that fateful day, El-Rufai with a little boy and his wife went to the hospital (name not disclosed) without convoy. The doctor on duty hadjust finished attending to an emergency case and came out when he met with them walking into the hospital seeking medical attention.
“The doctor directed them to the nurse who attended to them. On getting to the nurse, they asked for the doctor on duty who was very much on ground. They were attended to.
“In fact, he paid N1, 000 to buy card but it was night and they could not provide them with change. It was after they eft that people around sensed that it was the governor. It was unknown to those on duty that it was the governor.
“So our attention has been drawn to speculations and so many stories flying around that the governor got to the hospital and met absence of doctors on their duty post. And so he ask the doctor to meet him in government where he sacked him,” he stressed.
Dr. Ibrahim, however, frowned at the rumour mongers saying the people need total re-orientation over information they disseminated to the people.
