Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state on Friday boasted that no one will nullify the 2015 governorship election conducted in the state which brought him into office as the 3rd executive governor.
He told his supporters to disregard the rumour making rife that the on-going tribunal will nullify his election noting that he has trust in God.
Dr. Edward Nkwegu who contested the 2015 governorship election under Labour Party is challenging the victory of Umahi in the tribunal. Governor Umahi who claimed he has never seen the tribunal judges said he has confidence in them.
He said, “I want to use this opportunity to ask you to disregard the rumour that our election will be cancelled. No one will cancel our elections. Even though I have never seen the judges but I have confidence in them”, he stated.
He promised to be in the tribunal tomorrow (saturday) when the tribunal will adopt written addresses of the Governor and that of the petitioner.
Since the tribunal commenced the hearing of the governorship petition, there has been speculations and rumours spreading wide that the case is a bad one which may likely lead to cancellation of the election.
