National Population Commission, NPC, Borno State has begun the second phase of the Enumeration Area Demarcation, EAD, for 2017 census in kwayar Kusa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Addressing journalists in Maiduguri, the Federal Commissioner, NPC in Borno State, Alhaji Muhammad Hama said the exercise which started at Kwayar Kusa LGA on February 22 will end on March 14th 2016.
Alhaji Hama said the EAD forms the basis for the planning and execution of the census project, adding that in the pre-census period, the total number of EAD and it’s distribution is required for Census planning, particularly, the deployment of personnel, logistics, materials for the pretest, trial census, the main census and the post emergency survey.
“The 2nd phase of the EAD will take place in 29 local government areas in 29 States of the Federation not covered under the pilot test in December 2014 and the first phase in 2015.”
“The selected local government for the EAD in Borno is Kwayar Kusa Local Government Area and adequate logistics have been put in place for the effective deployment of personnel and materials during the EAD exercise in the selected local government area.”
“ Grass root sensitization of communities in the selected local government area and interpersonal communications with community leaders are being carried out, “the Borno NPC Boss explained.
He revealed that there will be no manipulation of EAD as the 2017 census is biometric- based that will seek to capture the facial impression and finger prints of persons during the census period.
