CAF and FIFA instructor,
Linus Mba has disclosed
that four referees are being
groomed by the Nigeria
Referees Association, NRA to
officiate at the 2018 FIFA world
cup in Russia.
Mba, who refused to
mention the names of the
affected referees told Nigerian
Pilot Saturday Sports on
Thursday during the 2015
FIFA fitness test at the Abuja
National Stadium that the
referees are already being used
by CAF and FIFA to handle
continental and international
‘’They are the best in the
Nigeria domestic league
and this year’s fitness test is
put them on track and get
them fit and ready for any
responsibility that may come
their way ahead of the 2018
FIFA world cup.
“We have four candidate
penciled down for
development for the next world
cup. We are closely monitoring
their local, continental and
international matches to
ensure their readiness for the
task ahead. Besides, NRA
would be assisting to making
sure they are fit and constant
monitoring would be done to
ensure they stick to the rules
and regulations governing the

NRA, Tade Azeez said the
annual FIFA fitness test is
designed for all the referees
that officiate in all the Nigerian
League are fit.
‘’ Our determination is to
see that all the CAF and FIFA
bagged referees are fit to
remain in the ranks. For those
already in FIFA, we are doing
everything possible to make
sure they are their best and
qualify to be invited to handle
matches during the next world
cup. But for those that not yet
enlisted for continental and
international duties, NRA is
working out programmes and
details that will help them
qualify higher responsibilities.
