National Sports Commission, NSC, Abuja stadium management has barred the U-23 Team, the Dream Team VI, from using the main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium for training ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games qualifier against Congo in July.
Abuja stadium management on Tuesday evening disrupted the team’s training section even as the two goal posts were removed to force the team to relocate to another destination.
One of the staff who begs anonymity said they were only carrying out an order by removing the goal post.
‘’The team has been directed to move to FIFA Goal project pitch situated in package B of the National Stadium for their training since the practice pitches around the stadium are not ready for use. You know that the stadium was regressed recently and using it for training will not be good for the growth of the grasses. The main bowl for now will only host matches and not for training.’’
However, the newly appointed director general, Alhassan Yakmut Saleh said on assumption of duty that the Federal Government stadia will no longer be use for unholy activities as effort are on to checkmate activities that will disrupt grasses at the stadia.
