As reactions continue to trail the removal of Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye as the Director General of National Sports Commission, Sports Minister Dr. Tammy Danagogo has described the emergence of Alhaji Al Hassan Yakmut as vital to the stabilization of the country’s sporting activities.
Dr. Danagogo who spoke to management Staff when he introduced the new Acting NSC DG, Yakmut asked staff to work effectively with their new DG adding that he would make desirable impact.
Fillers from the sports commission indicate that Sport Minister had introduced Yakmut at the beginning of the week when Directors gathered for their usual weekly meeting. He had received his appointment letter earlier.
According to a source privy to what transpired during the meeting, “The Staff are happy with the emergence of Alhaji Al Hassan Yakmut as new Acting DG. He is the right Man for the job.
“Even the Minister asked other Directors and their Deputies to support him because he is the right man for job due to his wealth of experience, having been within the system for a long time.
While the handover from Hon Elegbeleye has been delayed, the former NSC DG was said to have stayed put, insisting that he has not been officially served any redeployment letter.
When Nigerian Pilot Sports visited Sports Commission, neither Hon Elegbeleye nor Alhaji Yakmut was met on seat though the later was said to have stepped out as at the time of compiling this report.
This newspaper reported that the former DG was ousted following frosty relationship which existed between him and Sports Minister.
Beginning with the impasse concerning who emerge as Super Eagles Coach to who replaces retired Dr Bolaji Ojo-Oba as Director Elite Sports Department, Hon Elegbeleye is alleged to have opposed the interest of powers that be at the Presidency.
