The National Sports Commission, NSC Zone I Kaduna is set to host about 200 children between the ages of 10 and 15 in its maiden Volleyball Holiday Clinic tagged “Volley For All Festival” and scheduled for the Training pitch of Ahmadu Bello Stadium, ABS Kaduna.
The NSC Zonal Coordinator Zone I, Alhaji Bode Alli Durotoye disclosed it readiness to host the volleyball holiday clinic while addressing Sports writers in Kaduna.
Alhaji Durotoye said the clinic which is to be co-sponsored by the NSC and Chairman, Kaduna State Volleyball Association, Engineer Musa Nimrod is expected to run between August 18 and 20, 2015.
According to Alhaji Durotoye, the Volley For All Festival is aimed at providing basic volleyball training to the children as an avenue of introducing them gradually to the game of volleyball.
“Four ex-international volleyball players would anchor the training. Former African volleyball champion, Usman Abdalla, who is former Kano state player now coach of the Kano state Volleyball team. He played for Nigeria at various tournaments and was former best spiker in Africa.
“We also have the chairman of Nigerian Volleyball Coaches Association, Dr Ali Danlami of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. One of the coaches Nigeria sent to the US to learn how to teach children. They will be assisted by Kaduna state volleyball coach, Leo Gambon and Coach Joseph Kukwi from Kaduna Polytechnics.
“The basic volleyball training will last three days and we have invited children from many schools,” said Alhaji Ali Durotoye.
