Ogun State Command of Nigeria Security and civil defence Corps (NSCDC)
yesterday arrested two suspects for allegedly diverting 33,000 litres
of Premium Motor Spirit popularly called petroleum to Republic of

The two suspects; a 30 year old Aminu Sanni and 37 year old Aminu
Muhammed male, 37 from Kastina state were arrested in Igbogila in Yewa
North area of the state while driving truck load to the neighbouring

According to the Command, the Corps anti-hoarding and petroleum pump
price monitoring team deployed to Ogun West area of the state accosted
the said tanker around Igbogila /Igua axis.

The Command’s Public Relation Officer, Kareem Olanrewaju who confirmed
the arrest explained that the suspects could not give any reasonable
explanation as to the destination of the product.

Olanrewaju explained that the culprits have been detained while the
truck was recovered with its contents adding that the State
Commandant, Aboluwoye Akinwande has directed the case be referred for

The Command also revealed that the truck was painted in the colour of
Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and that the logo was
defaced adding that the product might be from vandalised pipeline.

The PRO reiterated that the command will intensify efforts on curbing
activities of bunkers who take fuel meant for Nigeria to neighboring

This, he said, will help reduce fuel problem currently being faced by
Nigerians adding that all the Division officers covering border area
in the state have been directed to act in this regard.

The truck with registration number Katsina, DTS 47 XA with phones and
other materials were recovered from the suspects.
