In order to tackle fuel scarcity in Osun State, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Alhaji Tajudeen Ayobami Balogun, has warned fuel marketers against selling above the official pump price of N87 per litre or risk being treated as economic saboteurs.
This warning was contained in a statement issued by the Head of Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Mr. Wale Folarin, and made available to Nigerian Pilot in Osogbo.
Balogun, who led a monitoring team to some filing stations in Osogbo at the weekend, stressed that the corps will not tolerate any activity aimed at frustrating government’s programme or policy as stated in Section 3 of the NSCDC Principal Act.
He said it has become imperative for fuel marketers to cooperate with the federal government in its bid to make life easy for Nigerians, adding that henceforth, any fuel marketer caught selling above the official pump price of N87 per litre would be treated as an economic saboteur.
The commandant, who said that the command will continue to provide intelligence report on erring fuel marketers to the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, also added that they are ready to work with the agency to curtail the excesses of fuel marketers if called upon.
