Candidate for the national president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Mr. Abdulwaheed Odisile has promised to establish new NUJ radio station in Abuja.
Mr. Odisile made this known when he visited Zamfara State Council of the NUJ during his campaign tour to all the 36 states of the federation ahead of the July NUJ National Convention.
Odisile said when the station is established, it would focus mostly on national issues, human angle reporting, entertain, educate and ensure actuality in reporting.
He said another part of his bond was to ensure media salary structure, eradication of quackery and sanitisation of social media, focus on professionalism with emphasis on training and retraining, certification of members, defence of press freedom and to enhance welfare programme among others.
He then called on Zamfara delegates to vote for him during the convention scheduled for July this year.
Also speaking, the national financial secretary aspirant, Comrade Adeleye Ajayi said part of his campaign promises as an economic journalist, accounting-inclined with over 25 years of experience, would ensure proper accountability and financial upliftment of professionals.
Ajayi also commended the Zamfara NUJ members for their warm reception and urged them to maintain their support to him and Comrade Odisile during by voting for them to enable them to transform the union to the highest level.
In the same vein, the vice president and secretary, Zone A, aspirants, Comrades Yusuf Idris and Shehu Ahmed in their joint campaign held at press centre in Gusau, promised to re-brand NUJ in the zone through ensuring that every member of the union contributed immensely towards developing the union.
In his remarks, chairman of the NUJ Zamfara State Council, Comrade Ibrahim Kanoma assured them their support in the delegates conference of the union.
