As the various security agencies continue to find solution to insurgency in the country, Nigerian Youth Congress, NYC, has called for the convergence of international conference on terrorism to discuss ways of contending the scourge.
President, NYC, Comrade Yakubu Shendam made the call yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police in Abuja.
He regretted that the youths, identified as tools in the hands of mischief makers, were not factored by the various security agencies in seeking solution to the challenge.
“Since this security challenge started, the various security agencies have not factored the youth in searching for solution. But as youths, we have a lot of information that can be of use in this regard. That is why as stakeholders, we have resolved to render support to the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police to win the war against insecurity, corruption and other vices,” Shendam stated.
Responding, the Inspector General, IG, of Police, who was represented by Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Administration and Finance, Dari Azumi Doma, expressed the willingness of the police to always collaborate with youths in the task of policing, describing them as veritable partners.
He restated that for the war against insurgency to be won, the youths must be in the vanguard of the fight.
“As youth leaders, you occupy a sensitive position that all security agencies need to work with you to overcome the security challenges.”
The IG, while challenging youth leaders to rise up to the occasion of easing institution of learning from vices such as cultism and others, further appealed to vibrant youths to embrace the upcoming police recruitment being mulled by the federal government.
