Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, said the introduction of skills acquisition programme by the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, would minimise unemployment and youth restiveness.
Masari, who disclosed this yesterday at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for Batch ‘B’ 2015, said his administration is ready to provide beneficiaries of the programme with financial assistance.
The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, called on corps members to make good use of the skills that they acquired.
Masari assured those posted to the state of their safety and welfare.
He said Katsina is one of the most secured states in Nigeria, adding that many ex-corps members had settled in the state and floated businesses.
Earlier, NYSC State Coordinator, Mairo Jummai Mohammed, commended the state government for providing foodstuffs and renovating the camp.
Jummai said during the orientation programme, corps members were trained in skills acquisition with the aim to make them self-reliant after service.
The coordinator called on corps members to be disciplined, hardworking and remain obedient in their places of primary assignment.
She warned that NYSC would not hesitate to discipline any corps member who misbehaves in his/her host community.
