Director–General, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brig-Gen Johnson Olawunmi has said that the scheme would not settle for substandard materials in the procurement and supply of capital items for the year 2015.
The director general stated this yesterday in Abuja, at the opening of the technical bid for the procurement and supply of capital items for this year.
Reading his opening remark through the NYSC director of procurement, Alh. Bashir Yakassai, the DG explained that the tender opening exercise was a new dimension in line with the change era through transparency, accountability, fairness and value for money in the procurement of goods and services.
He said that although the contractors were members of the scheme’s family, they should meet the set standard of the scheme or risk the termination of their contract.
He also called on the contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials as any delay would show unseriousness on their part, which would lead to them loosing patronage.
The NYSC boss further appealed to the contractors to accept whatever would be the outcome of the exercise in good fate and try some other time.
