Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brig-Gen Johnson Olawunmi has said that the scheme will not settle for sub standard materials in the production and supply of kit items for the 2015 Batch B intending corps members.
The director general stated this yesterday in Abuja at the opening of the technical bid for the supply and production of kit items.
In his opening remark delivered by NYSC director of procurement, Alhaji Bashir Yakassai, the DG explained that the tender opening exercise was a new dimension in line with the change era, adding that through the method, transparency, accountability, fairness and value for money in the procurement of goods and services would be achieved.
He said that, although the contractors were in the NYSC business, they were members of the scheme’s family, urging them to meet the set standard of the scheme or risk the termination of their contract.
While appreciating stakeholders present, he also called on the contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials as any delay would show unseriousness on their part, which would lead to their loss of patronage.
The NYSC boss further appealed to the contractors to accept the outcome of the exercise in good fate, advising any contractor who failed to be considered this time around to try some other time.
