Oba of Benin, Omo Noba N’Edo Uku Akpon lokpolo, Oba Enwuare II, has commended the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture NCAC Otunba Olusegun Runsewe for his tireless efforts towards marketing and promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

The Oba who gave this commendation in his palace while endorsing the National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST) scheduled to hold in Benin City from October 19 to 26, said Culture was central to the unity and peace of Nigeria.

Expressing delight that the 2019 NAFEST is coinciding with his fourth year anniversary on the throne, the Oba said the festival would be used as a platform for marking the anniversary.

While assuring that the palace would work fully with NCAC in making NAFEST 2019 in Edo State a huge success, the Oba added that Runsewe’s passion for the development and preservation of Nigeria’s Culture must be supported and encouraged by all.

The Oba expressed appreciation to the NCAC boss for giving Edo State the hosting right and for the festival and for enlisting the collaboration of the palace for the hosting of the event.

“Words are not enough to express my appreciation; I am simply overwhelmed” the Royal Majesty declared.

Earlier, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe had informed the Oba that the purpose of his visit was to brief His Royal Majesty about the festival and obtain his Royal blessing.

Runsewe added that culture was the best vehicle for bringing about national unity, peace and development.

He told the Oba that a Day of Royal Splendour shall form part of the 2019 NAFEST in Edo State to showcase and celebrate aspects of the Benin Royalty.

It will be recalled that Otunba Olusegun Runsewe had on January 24, presented the instrument of hosting of NAFEST to the Executive Governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
