bring back our girlsFormer President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has rubbished all hopes that the abducted Chibok girls will ever be returned alive from the vicious grip of Boko Haram sect that captured them almost two years ago.
Obasanjo, who blamed the immediate past government of Goodluck Jonathan, for failing to act with despatch on the rescue of the abducted girls, warned the Federal Government against further deceiving the public that the girls would be rescued alive.
“Anyone saying they (Chibok girls) will return is telling lies, maybe some of them will return to tell their story,” Obasanjo said, stressing further that President Jonathan failed to respond to the situation with the ferocity it required moments following the reported abduction of the schoolgirls.
“The former president heard about the kidnap 8:00 a.m. in the morning of the abduction but failed to act until 72 hours later and by then it was too late,” Mr. Obasanjo stated and left no one in doubt about the unlikelihood of all the girls being recovered and alive, if at all.
Responding to questions from the audience Friday night, at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Staff Club, programme tagged, “7th Roundtable with OBJ”, the former President asserted that the Chibok girls would hardly be recovered alive because they may have late now to make any realistic effort to rescue.
“Seventy-two hours after the Chibok girls were adopted was too late for their rescue, talk less of getting to two years by April. So if any leader is promising to bring back the Chibok girls to Nigeria, he is lying,” OBJ stressed in apparent reference to President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent assurances that efforts are being made to rescue the girls alive.
Nigerian Pilot Sunday recalls that President Buhari had on Wednesday in Strasbourg, France while addressing the European Union parliament reiterated his commitment to securing the release of the Chibok girls, who were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents in April 2014.
This was on the heels of his recent comments that the Federal Government lacks credible intelligence on the where about of the abducted schoolgirls but insisted that they would be rescued.
In the Friday night comments, the elder statesman, Obasanjo, who recently wrote his first letter to the president on sundry happenings, tacitly took a swipe at the Buhari’s administration stating that not much have been done since he left office in 2007.
On power generation, Mr. Obasanjo said there had been no meaningful improvements since he left office.
“Power is still the same way I left it in 2007, railway is same way and other sectors, it was best that PDP stopped ruling us,” he said in apparent lampoon of the efforts of both former President Jonathan to revive the sectors and current work being done by the Buhari-led federal government.
He again showed his disdain for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, by stating that, “It was a thing of joy to me that the earlier declaration of 50 years governance for PDP did not come to pass.”

    Chibok girls rescue
Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Baba is right again, I couldn’t agree with him more,
that with Chibok girls, President Jonathan failed to respond soon after the girls were abducted at
8:00 A.M. that morning. Its a little bit too late now for anyone to think that he can get the girls back.
Boko Haram insurgents abducted the girls in April 2014, and it is almost 2 years now, there is no possibility
of know where the girls are , maybe they are still inside Nigeria, maybe not.

Obasanjo himself is a big disappointment. For someone with two time opportunities to lead his Nation to leave his country worst than he met it. This in any way does not call for self praise. It is not also a call for celebration. The Nation (not him Obasanjo ) has judged him and found him lacking in character, vision and ability.

OBASANJO, YOU ARE YOURSELF A BIG-TIME OTTA FARM THIEF AND A POWER THIRSTY ATTENTION-SEEKER. SO WHY DON’T YOU JUST SHUT UP AND ENJOY YOUR LOOT. DO NOT FORCE BUHARI TO CATCH UP WITH YOUR OWN SCANDALS WHICH ARE HUGE AND MANY.
