Former All Progressives Congress, APC, and Accord Party, AP, governorship aspirant in Edo State, Dr Don Pedro Obaseki, who was the Accord Party candidatr for the Edo governorship elections has joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He effected the change of political platform weekend when the leaders of the Edo PDP led by state chairman, Dan Orbih, and the governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, visited him in Benin City.
He immediately declared that he was joining forces with the PDP in order to ensure that the plot being hatched by Governor Adams Oshiomhole to impose
his surrogates as governor and deputy governor of Edo State does not succeed.
Obaseki, who is a cousin to the APC governorship candidate Mr Godwin Obaseki, said all hands must be on deck to thwart what he described as wicked attempt by Governor Oshiomhole to pocket Edo State.
He said, “If I have decided to join my brothers, I have decided to join this my brother (Ize-Iyamu). More than anything, I’m passionate about driving Oshiomhole and APC out of Edo.
“Edo people should be allowed to decide who should lead them and not imposing a surrogate, who could not read a piece paper given to him to read.”
Reacting, Orbih, who described Don Pedro Obaseki as an asset, said Obaseki from the moment was now a PDP leader and that the PDP would fully embrace him.
Ize-Iyamu, in his remark, said Obaseki has an uncommon passion for the development of Edo State, saying his action was not about politics but a task to rescue Edo State.
