• New militant group threatens missile attacks on oil installations

vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday represented President Muhammadu Buhari at the Ogoniland clean-up against earlier schedule which indicated that the President would personally attend the event.
The development came just after he delegated the Vice President to represent him at a two-day state visit to Lagos state which had been heavily publicised.
At the Ogoni land event yesterday, the President in his speech read by Osinbajo warned Niger Delta militants, vandals and oil well thefts that, his administration will not tolerate any act of criminality.
Professor Yemi Osinbanjo, at the flagging off of ‘clean up Ogoniland and other oil impacted communities’, in the Niger Delta region , in Bodo town, Gokana Local Government. Area LGA of Rivers state, regretted vandalisation of oil facilities.
But new militant group, Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force, JNDLF was quick to threaten that it would test its missiles on oil installation and airplanes that fly over the Niger Delta airspace three days beginning Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
According to Buhari, theft of crude oil and blowing up of the oil well facilities as well as kidnapping of oil companies’ staff have negatively affected gas supply for electricity generation and entire economy of the nation. He bemoaned the loss of lives suffered by Ogoniland and Niger Delta region and blamed past governments and oil companies, for inability to address the environmental hazard caused by their economic activities.
He warned that government would deal decisively with oil theft and pipeline vandalism, and called on the people, for co-operation in the clean-up process, assuring full and proper execution
Noting that government had given approval for a frame work for full implementation and execution, Buhari also affirmed that the United Nations Environmental Programme, UNEP will provide time lap and technical details for the programme.
We shall continue to make regular visits and inspection of the projects, till completion, appealing to the youths and region, for protection of the facilities.
“The methodology of the cleanup exercise will ensure job creation for the youths, while Agriculture will be properly factored in the programme” he explained.
Governor Nyesom Wike in his speech , observed Rivers state had suffered much of environmental, health and economic devastation, because of economic activities if the oil firms in the region.
“This programme will present latest approach to issues on environmental management and pollution control . It will also present us a clear road map for the clean up, and it will be systematically and comprehensively executed” he said.
Commending President Buhari for the political will to initiate the programme, he assured that the state government will provide relevant platform, for successful implementation.
Minister for Environment Hajjiah Amina Mohammed, noted that the flagging off of the programme was the culmination of struggles of many decades by the Ogonis.
“It is the responsibility of all of us to achieve transparency and thorough work in this exercise”, disclosing that she had used the past six months making the necessary consultations.
In his remark, the leader of the UNEP team Mr Achim Steiner expressed joy, as he declared, he never knew a day like that would ever come.
Achim noted it was former President Olusegun Obasanjo who first invited him to the country for the UNEP report , and commended the nation’ s media for necessary publicity of their report..
Shell Petroleum Development Company SPDC, thanked the federal government for the initiative, and promised on behalf of other partners, to pay their own share of funds, for the cleaning.

Militants to test missiles
In their statement signed by four persons the group described as its Commanding officers, the new militant group noted that, “We have seen and noted that President Muhammadu Buhari is set for the final breakup of the country. Mr. Buhari
should also know that we are also prepared and set for his proposal.
“The Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC) which is the highest organ of all the freedom fighting body has finally endorsed the followings:
. After extensive and exhaustive deliberation by all Commanders of various groups in Yenagoa, the heart of the Niger Delta struggle met last night and as part of our mission, we are going to test six (6) of our MISSILES in the region. This is to show the federal government of our readiness of the American prediction.
. There should be NO any form of helicopter to fly around in the region as we will not guarantee the safety of such object.
. The people of the Niger Delta region should not panic in course of test running the 6 MISSILES.
. We may also decide within the week to shut down the Nigerian satellite orbit, so that there will be no communication in the country if needs arise.
. Within our three (3) days operations, NO airplane should fly out of the country because it can target such object no matter how small or big it may be.
. Our Fighter Expert Team shall be positioned in the six (6) Niger Delta states , who have already arrived the region from training through our country’s porous borders with our foreign partners who are going to showcase what they have learnt in past on year.
. Our struggle is not for any human blood, but we have been pushed to the wall for justice because our patience is running out on daily basis as Nigerian uniform men killing our innocent people continuously.
. Nigerian military should as a matter of urgency leave peacefully the Ijaw communities they are presently in, the next 48 hours under the guise of searching for the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) or else we should not be blamed of whatever catastrophe that may befall on such officers and the likely affected families of the officers should blame them not the region.
. Henceforth, any attack on Ijaw communities or person(s) by the military or para-military body in the region, we will not hesitate to order our shoot-at-sight squad of any uniform personnel in the region.
. We ask all Service Chiefs including Minister of Defence to shamefully resign their positions because Nigeria has no security in whatever form. Bravo to our Foreign Marine Crack Team for their ability to shut down Nigerian obsolete surveillance equipment.
. All oil and gas operations should shut down immediately as our MISSILES testing will affect their equipment.
. NOTE, we shall commence MISSILES testing on Tuesday 7, June 2016 which coincide with the date of our training abroad. .. We promised Nigerians and the entire world that we are going to surprise them.
