Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barrister Yusuph Olaniyonu has described the State as the gateway to ECOWAS market.
Olaniyonu said while briefing participants of the Institute for Security Studies, ISS who came on a study tour to the State.
According to him, the giant strides recorded so far in the present administration in the State has made the State the most industrialized state in Nigeria, adding that presently, 57 industries have
established in the State with each industry spending nothing less than 10 million dollars.
The commissioner said further that what cement factories in the state produce daily is more than what South Africa produces as a country, adding that it has made Ogun the largest producer of cement in Africa.
He said, “Provision of infrastructural development, security and investor’s forum organised by the present administration since May 29, 2011 was what prompted industrialists to invest in the state.
“I wish to inform you that the outgoing president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has come to the State five times to commission some of the industries. While Lagos State is the most commercialized state, Ogun remains the most industrialised state.”
While speaking on the achievements of the Government within the last 47 months in office, Olaniyonu said Government in its “Mission to Rebuild” the State has invested seriously to change the State to an economically viable one, especially through its five cardinal programmes.
He said, “Not only did the Government pay West African Examination Council, WAEC fees, provide free textbooks, instructional materials and furniture to public schools, it also built new classrooms while the health sector was not left behind. Fifty new Primary Health Care Centres were built in the first 100 days in office, medical equipment provided and medical personnel recruited”.
He however advised them to use the opportunity to move round the state to witness the even development on Infrastructure, Housing, Tourist Centres and Public Model Schools.
Earlier in his opening remarks, Director of the Institute, Mr. Adebayo Odugbemi commended the State Government for accepting to host the team while appreciating the hospitality accorded them.
Odugbemi said as an Institute, they go on state and foreign tours to strategize on tackling insecurity, orientate members on how to strengthen security in the country.
While congratulating Governor Amosun on his re-election, Odugbemi commended the efforts of the Government on infrastructural development, provision of qualitative education, efficient health care delivery and increasing agricultural production.
