The newly appointed Commissioner for Health in Ogun State, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, has said that the Ministry under his supervision would be IGR-driven.
The Commissioner made this disclosure on his first Meeting With the top Management officials of the Ministry, at the Ministry Conference Hall, Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta.
The commissioner said that he has come with a lot of innovations that would take the Ministry of Health to a higher pedestal, adding that his focus was for the Ministry to be IGR driven, improved infrastructure and efficiency management to make income.
Ipaye said that it is high time Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government started looking inward on ways to develope a good Model Health IGR, saying that MDAs should stop relying on Government to shoulder all the responsibilities alone.
The Commissioner said the first point of call would be the Primary Health Care, down to Secondary, stressing that there would be a parallel shift in what it used to be, while most of his work would be on the field.
‘’With a good model on Health IGR the sky will not just be the limit, but above the sky. Rwanda Health sector will be used as the case study as most of my work will be on the field,” he said.
Speaking on the challenges faced by the Ministry, the Former Permanent Secretary, Dr. Daisi Odeniyi, said the staff strength of the Ministry need to be urgently attended to, adding that the school of nursing accreditation and hostel accommodation also needs urgent attention.
Giving his assurance that all the Management and Staff of the Ministry would not let him down on his aims and aspirations for the Ministry, the new Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nofiu Aigoro, urged the Commissioner to look into the infrastructural development with regards to health issues in the State.
