Ogun State government said the surviving lassa fever patient in its isolation center at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu is stable and calm.

The State Commissioner for Health, Babtunde Ipaye in an interview yesterday in Abeokuta, the state capital said she has been on Ribaviren for the past six days.

Ipaye said that the victim, a twelve old pregnant woman, was being managed aggressively at the isolation center adding that the government is hopeful of her survival.

The 28 year old patient who was said to be the wife of a public officer in Ogun State had travelled to the state from Kogi where she was believed to have contacted the virus.

On her pregnancy, the Commissioner explained that the state government, health workers and the family members are not kin about the foetus but to save the life of the woman.

According to him, lassa fever has history of aborting pregnancy adding that her status would be revealed immediately she is discharged from the isolation center.
