Two middled-aged women lost their lives while four others were injured on Saturday night in a motor accident at Wasimi end of the Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.
The accident involved a Nissan saloon car with registration number, Lagos SZ 171 AAA and an IVECO truck marked Ogun SRA 546 XA.
It was gathered that the occupants of the car were on their way back to Lagos from Ilaro in Yewa South local government area of Ogun State where they had gone for a party.
According to eye witnesses account, the woman driving the car lost control when the granite-laden truck coming behind hooted to pave way for its passage on the double carriage road.
It was further gathered that the truck, while trying to manoeuvre, hit the road median and fell on the car, pouring all its content on the highway.
Our correspondent, who was at the scene observed that no part of the car was visible, but the victims’ hands were seen waving through the granite.
It took the intervention of the entourage of the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Suraj Isola Adekunbi, and newly promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Abdulmajid Ali, which got to the scene immediately to the rescue some of the victims.
