As part of effort geared towards paying greater attention to beach games, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has created Beach Soccer and Futsal Unit and immediately appointed Sunday Okayi to head it as the Scribe.
Okayi, former Head of Refereeing Unit of the country’s football house would now work under Competition department in his new appointment.
In a letter dated July 1 and conveyed to Okayi by the federation through Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi, the Kogi-born administrator whose footprints were noticeably felt in the Refereeing Unit is expected to develop template on how the Nation’s beach game would flourish better than it was.
Declaring his readiness to resume, Okayi who exclusively spoke to Nigerian Pilot Sports noted that he would work assiduously in line with the new mandate given to him.
According to him, “It has been my desire to serve the federation in any capacity I’m appointed into. The federation has done a lot in ensuring steady growth for Beach soccer and Futsal game.
“It’s time to take the game further. The creation of a unit for it shows the commitment of the federation and we will do our best to give more bits to what has been done.”
