Imo Stat e governor,
Owelle Rochas Okorocha
has promised to release
the sum of Two Million
Naira (NN2, 000, 000, 00)
for the burial of about four
persons allegedly killed
in the state last Saturday
during the national
elections in the state.
Governor Okorocha
made the promise
yesterday while
addressing teeming All
Progressives Congress,
APC, stakeholders in the
South East during a post
election meeting at the Imo
International Convention
Centre, Owerri.
Okorocha, who
lamented the gruesome
murder of the innocent
citizens condemned in
strong terms flagrant use
of soldiers, policemen and
men of the Department
of State Security, DSS, in
manhandling of perceived
opponents of the PDP.
He assured the APC that
his administration will
not forsake the bereaved
families in this time of
trial promising to look
after them after the burial.
The governor accused
leaders of the PDP in Imo
State of responsibility
for the use of military to
assault innocent people
of the state for belonging
to APC saying such action
will not be allowed on
April 11.
Speaking on the
outcome of the elections
in Imo, the governor
declared that APC did not
lose election in Imo but
blamed what happened
on the INEC officials
and security operatives
who he said were overtly
The APC government,
he assured would not go
the way of the outgoing
PDP federal government
in using military to
suppress the will and
free wishes of the people
because the victory of
Gen. Mohammadu Buhari
marks an end to impunity
in Nigeria.
