A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as a modest but not flamboyant in nature.
The party chieftain, Chief Pius Ovwidje made this observation at a public function while reacting to the N10bn borrowed by his administration occasion by the emptied treasury he met on assumption of office.
Ovwidje said government was a continuum and he must start from where his predecessor had stopped and where he meets financial constrain, he must borrow to move ahead.
While describing Governor Okowa as people oriented governor, Ovwidje explained that he has explicit confidence that his administration will usher in unprecedented development, urging Deltans to give him the maximum cooperation he needs to succeed.
He pointed out that from the inception of Okowa’s politicking, “the peoples interests had always overridden his personal interest and his simple nature of modesty has endeared him as a successful politician from the 1999 till date.”
Ovwidje speaking further said, “Okowa is one man that is so articulate and focused. His appointment so far has spoken volume of his preparedness to carry all the ethnic nationalities along irrespective of tribe and I know his administration will be a beginning of a new era.
“What is required of us is our commitment to service and to repay the confidence he has on us as those whom he may have appointed to work with him; a little cooperation from us will change the tides of time in his assignment to transform Delta.”
