Nigeria’s Super Eagles claimed a 2-0 success over their Nigerien counterparts, Les Mena, in an international friendly in Port Harcourt yesterday.
Ahmed Musa and Moses Daddy Simon scored the goals in each half as the Nigerians put behind them the 0-0 draw in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania over the weekend.
Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, made six changes to the side that played against Tanzania by including Godfrey Oboabona, Chima Akas, Rabiu Ibrahim, Usman Mohammed, Sylvester Igbonu and Anthony Ujah.
Izunna Uzochukwu was not listed as he was out injured with a muscle problem.
It took just 12 minutes for Nigeria to make headway in the game when Ujah was felled by his Nigerien marker Issiakou Koudize in the box for a penalty.
Nigeria captain, Musa, stepped up and scored though Nigerien goalkeeper Daouda Kassaly felt he should have kept the spot kick out if he had applied a strong punch.
Oliseh made a handful of substitutions that saw goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Yaro Bature and Prince Aggreh make their full international debuts. Moses Simon later came for Musa.
He immediately ran the defence of Niger ragged and got a goal before the encounter ended.
The 2-0 success for Eagles became their first win under the managerial era of Oliseh.
