Crisis rocking the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has taken another dimension at the weekend when the state chairman of the party, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke was removed from office by the State Working Committee of the party for allegedly doctoring delegate list to favour his own governorship aspirant ahead of the August 27, primary.
More facts emerged at the weekend that Kekemeke has gone to Lagos with about five aspirants names to actually know the one the National Leader, Ahmed Tinubu will be interested with.
It was reliably gathered that after going through the list, Asiwaju was said to have informed Kekemeke two of the aspirants that was well known to him and one to be panciled down.
Out of the three aspirants penciled down, Kekemeke’s anointed candidate who is from Owo was not there.
It was learnt the embattled chairman has collected huge amount of money from the candidate, assuring him that he will persuade Asiwaju to endorse him.
But on getting there, Asiwaju was said to have told Kekemeke that the candidate that he was trying to persuade him to support was not known to him but mentioned two he knew very well.
His inability to convince Lagos to support his candidate who has distributed a lot of Okadas and vehicle to party members angered him and he decided to blackmail Asiwaju that he had supported Segun Abraham.
After the attempt to get Lagos endorsement, Kekemeke was said to have injected about four hundred names of his own into the delegate list to favour his candidate from Owo.
His trouble now started when he was planning to ‘coarse’the delegates and some party leaders to support his anointed candidate.
The SWC of the party which comprises members of the state and local government executives, took the decision to sack him at an emergency meeting held in Akure, the state capital on Saturday.
At the end of the meeting, over two-third members of the committee signed a communiqué issued to back up their action. The committee also ordered the Vice Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin to be acting as the chairman of the party until further notice.
In the communiqué, made available to our correspondent, Kekemeke was alleged to have committed a lot of atrocities while in office as the chairman, this led to a vote of no confidence passed on him.
Some other allegations of anti-party activities, romancing with the ruling party, misappropriation of party’s funds, extorting money from the governorship aspirants, non-commitment to party activities among others.
The communiqué read, “ The State chairman and his associates in crime had maliciously and wilfully doctored the Party’s delegates list of the state and injected names of those who never took part in any of the party’s congresses in order to over reach the helpless and vulnerable majority of the aspirants in the forthcoming primary in the state.
“ Kekemeke and his cronies are more of PDP’s moles within the APC family which cannot lead the party to victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
” As a result of the reported allegation raised against the chairman, the house further resolved that he should step aside from his position as the state chairman and to surrender all the party’s properties in his possession for ease of proper investigation.”
To this end, a three-man disciplinary committee has been set up to investigate all the allegations against the embattled chairman.
The committee which consisted of Mr. Solagbade Amodeni, Mr. Jaiyeoba Oluwatuyi and Mr. Akin Ogunsakin was given seven days to complete the assignment and report to SWC of the party.
All efforts to reach Kekemeke on the telephone were unsuccessful as he did not pick his phone and failed to reply the text message sent to him by our correspondent at the time of this report.
