BARELY three hours after the purported impeachment of the Ondo State House of Assembly principal officers were resolved, the House passed the 2016 budget into law.
The House presided by the Speaker, Jumoke Akindele, yesterday passed the bill into law after the House Committee chairman on Finance and Appropriation, Mr. Ade Adeniyi submitted the report to the lawmakers.
For the record a total sum of N118, 990, 000, 000.00 was budgeted for 2016 fiscal year with N68, 000, 000, 000.00 allocated for recurrent expenditure while N50, 990, 000, 000.00 goes for capital project.
Adeniyi, after a thorough defence by the MDAs in the state, recommended that they should ensure that provisions of the budget are utilized for the needs stated therein.
“The Board of Internal Revenue should make vigorous efforts to block all identified leakages as much as possible,” he said.
Similarly, the House also passed a bill for a law to provide for an amendment to the Ondo State Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Abduction Law 2010, a bill to provide for the establishment, operations and functions of the Orange Fm station passed first reading.
