Ondo State police command have paraded 30 suspects alleged to have been involved in various criminal activities ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, secret cultism and rape.
Parading the suspects before newsmen in Akure the state capital, state commissioner of police, Mr. Isaac Eke told the newsmen that the suspects were arrested at different locations across the state.
Out of the 30 suspects paraded, three were alleged kidnappers. They include Micheal Oladun , 52 Ogunju from Okitipupa who claimed to be the present Governor of the fraction of Dr Fredrick Faseun led Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, in Ondo state while the second suspect is Rafiu Alao from Ondo town and Adesemoye David, 46 of the same address.
Eke explained that the three suspects and other members of the OPC numbering about 100, conspired to kidnap one Tayo Alao , 42, residing at Sabo road in Ondo, a former Governor of OPC in Ondo state who was alleged to have embezzled the group’s money collected by him from the group for registration for the protection of pipeline contract by the Federal Government.
The current Governor of the group in Ondo the first suspect Micheal Oladun said an attempt by the group to collect the money back due to pressure from over 100 members that have contributed about N15,000 each, resulted to scuffle between them and led to their subsequent arrest.
According to the police boss, officers and men of the Special Anti Robbery Squard, SARS, acted on the available information and stormed the area resulting to the arrest of the suspects.
On robbery, the police boss stated that some suspected robbers about five and armed with guns and other dangerous weapons robbed, one Komolafe Temidayo, residing at Living Faith Church Ondo road, Akure of his Toyota Sienna bus KLA 790 CH valued at N1,600,000 at gun point.
He stated upon investigation, one Banji Adedayo , 40, Tope Daramola, 45, and Segun Akinseye were arrested and confessed to the crime.
Also, on the case of cultism, Eke said that about five Secret cult members, Eiye Secret, were arrested by the operatives of the Special Anti- Cultism Squad in the state.
