Ondo State Vanguard For Good Governance has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, John Odigie-Oyegun to call the leader of the party, Bola Tinubu to order.
In a press statement, the National Coordinator of the body, comrade Ajiboye Olalekan Festus expressed dissatisfaction on the role of Tinubu in the political development of the state.
Festus accused Tinubu of planning to impose his business associate, Dr. Segun Abraham in the forthcoming primary election in the state.
He said the development has led to over 1000 APC members to decamp to the PDP.
The national coordinatoe also observed that in 2007, Tinubu failed the Ondo people when he imposed Prince Ademola Adegoroye on the Ondo people.
According to him, “We, members of the Ondo State Vanguard for Good Governance have been following the political development in Ondo State closely and wish to make the following declarations.
“That we are aware that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has directed that party leaders in Ondo State should ensure that Dr. Segun Abraham, his business associate, emerges as the party candidate in the forthcoming primary.
“That since the report started circulating a few days ago, APC as a party, has lost over 1000 members to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ondo State and seven governorship aspirants have vowed to move to Accord Party and work against the APC in the coming elections.
“This is how Tinubu failed the Ondo people in 2007 when he imposed Prince Ademola Adegoroye on the Ondo people and also in 2012 when he imposed Rotimi Akeredolu who is not known, and which was why the candidate could not deliver even his village in the governorship election.
“When a research was done on the chances of candidates from Akokoland in the forthcoming election, Tinubu’s candidate, Dr. Segun Abraham was a distant 6th.
Segun Abraham did not come home during the 2015 general election and did not vote.
He failed to deliver his unit, local authority primary school, Ikare- Akoko.
“Dr. Abraham did not support the House of Assembly candidate who was from his ward in the last election, which resulted in the candidate being defected by the PDP with 44 votes. If Abraham had come home, the candidate from his ward would have won the election.
“This is to state that we will not allow Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to mortgage our future by producing a candidate that will not augur well for Ondo State. We will not allow what happened in October 2012 to reoccur in 2016. We will not allow Tinubu turn Ondo State into his business empire.
“We as a group are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chairman of our great party, Chief John Odigie- Oyegun to call the party leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to order lest the party loses the forth- coming governorship election in Ondo State woefully.”
