Labour Party has emphasised that one party state will be dangerous for the country.
The party expressed concern that with the current defection of politicians from the Peoples Democracy Party, PDP to the All Progressive Congress, APC, Nigeria is gradually tilting into one party state.
In a press statement, the National Secretary of the Party, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo pointed out that events had shown that since the flagbearer of the APC was declared winner of the March 28 Presidential election, APC had shown that it is a party that will stifle and muscle the opposition.
Ajulo cited that a case in point was the haste with which the party encourages its members in Ekiti state to uprising, even when there was a case pending in court over the crisis in the House of Assembly.
The party’s scribe further blamed APC over the crisis in Rivers state, noting that in its bid to keep fomenting trouble, the party had turned Rivers state into a battle ground through spurious allegations and protests.
He, therefore, counselled that the opposition must be prepared for an enduring battle to save the country’s nascent democracy.
