KOGI state’s organised Labour has advised opponents of Governor Yahaya Bello in the just concluded legal battle over issues arising from governorship election in the state to accept defeat and key into the olive branch being offered by the governor. The Labour group gave the advice in a congratulatory letter to governor Bello over his Supreme Court victory, In a statement jointly signed by the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), comrade Onuh Edoka and his trade union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Ojo Ranti and made available to journalists in Lokoja at the weekend, the labour group said the complaints should accept the olive branch for peaceful reconciliation and in the interest of the state. The organized labour appealed to the political opponents of governor Bello to respond to the call positively for sustained growth and development, adding that the governor’s agenda will enhance the well-being of workers and the people of the state. They urged governor Bello’s political opponents to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship by joining him in the task of taking the state to the next level of development. The Labour leaders urged governor Bello to continue to extend the hand of fellowship to his opponents in order to fulfil his quest of building a state that would be the pride of all. The organized labour pledged to support the governor, especially on policies and programs aimed at improving the welfare of the state workers and the entire people of the state. It would be recalled that the Supreme Court on Tuesday, September 20th, dismissed four appeals, including those filed by James Faleke and immediate past governor, Capt. Idris Wada, challenging the election of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as the elected governor of the state.
