Though the 8th Assembly in Benue State is dominated by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the All Progressives Congress, APC yesterday clinched the position of the Speaker.
While PDP has 15 members, APC has 14 and Labour Party, LP 1 member.
The State House of Assembly was yesterday inaugurated by the state governor, Samuel Ortom with Terkimbir Ikyange representing Ushongo State Constituency beating Dominic Ucha of the PDP with 17 votes to 13 to emerge as Speaker.
The position of the Deputy speaker went to Hon. James Ejembi of the PDP who represents Okpokwu State constituency.
Earlier, while inaugurating the House, the State Governor Samuel Ortom pledged that the executive will work in harmony with the legislative arm to enhance development of the State.
