Super Falcons trio of Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega and Evelyn Nwabuoku will miss the crucial final qualifying round, first leg clash for the Rio 2016 Olympics against Mali.
The Super Falcons’ trio who all scored goals in Nigeria’s 8-0 victory over Mali in the All African Games qualifier in April, are unlikely to play a part in the country’s quest for the Olympic qualifier billed for Saturday, May 9.
It was learnt that Nwabuoku, who in April joined the Kazakhstan Women Premier League champions Biik Kazygurt, will not make the trip over travel hitches.
Ordega, who teamed up with her National Women’s Soccer League outfit Washington Spirit in April, was not released as she continues to wrestle for her place in the US elite outfit.
Similarly, Oshoala was held on by Liverpool Ladies following the reluctance of the English Women Super League outfit who are struggling in campaign to defend their title.
However, a source informed Goal that the trio of Oshoala, Ordega and Nwabuoku will be available to join the rest of the team for a-two-week final preparatory training tour in Canada before the World Cup starts on June 6.
It would be recalled that Nigeria did not qualify for the London 2012 Olympics after they were shocked by the Bayana Bayana of South Africa at the final hurdle.
