Vice President Yemi Osibanjo has advised the people of Kogi State, particularly the Ebirra speaking people in the Central Senatorial district to join the change wave blowing across the country by voting for the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Abubakar Audu in next week’s governorship election in the state.
The Vice President made this remarks at Okene, the hub of the Ebirra speaking people of the state Wednesday during the APC zonal rally in the ancient city.
Professor Osibanjo who said Kogi State stood a better chance in gaining a lot from the federal government by voting en masse for Prince Audu said he was sent by President Muhammed Buhari to appeal to them to vote for the APC candidate and be part of the winning team in the country.
He stressed that the party will not rest on its oars until the people of the state get the desired change of leadership that will deliver dividend of democracy evenly to them.
In the same vein, the National Chairman of the APC, Dr John Odigie- Oyegun implored the Ebirra people to vote for Prince Audu, saying, “he has been tested and trusted because of his achievements as a state governor before that are still on ground and touching lives of the people, even after 12 years out of corridor of power.
“Prince Audu needs no introduction to the people of the state. His achievements as state governor years back are enough to speak for him. We want you all to vote for him for the darkness in the state to be over”, he said.
The chairman of the National Campaign Council for Prince Audu, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State said Kogi state could not afford to remain in the opposition party in the north central geo-political zone of the country.
Governor Bello who emphasized the need for Kogi State to join its counterparts in the same zone like, Benue, Plateau, Niger Kwara and Nassarawa and effect a change , implored the people of the state to vote for Prince Audu for roads, salary of workers and other infrastructural decay in the state to receive attention.
However, Adams Oshomole, the governor of Edo state said “the time has come to open the cockpit and remove the sleeping captain of Kogi aircraft that has lost his bearing”, adding “the only way out is to get rid of the sleeping pilot is to vote Prince Abubakar Audu on 21 November governorship election in the state.
The APC candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu assured the Ebirra speaking people that if voted in, he will ensure power shift from the Igala speaking areas to either Ebirra or Yoruba-Okun.
The campaign rally attracted a lot of dignitaries from across the country, including party chieftains, ex-governors and two serving governors of Niger and Edo states.
