Osun State government has declared it’s intention to develop all the tourist centres across the state with a view to improve the economy of the state.

To this end, the state government has invited experts to carry out visibility studies of the centres and come up with a good recommendation on how best to go about it.

A team of experts from National Institute for Policy and Strategy Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Jos, have therefore toured the tourist centres in the state and asserted that Osun is a good tourist centre.

Addressing a press conference at Ideal Nest Hotel, Osogbo, the team leader, Mr. Asipita Umar, said the team has visited Olumirin waterfall, Erin-ijesa water fall, Kiriji war site at Imesi-Ile, Ayinkunnugba waterfall.

He said the site visited by the team are good potentials that the state was blessed with, saying “it is unfortunate that we have not been able to utilise the potential that we have around us.

Umar however, stated that, if the opportunity in the state can be utilised very well, the state would be buoyant to depend less on the federal government allocation.

“Osun state has one of the UNESCO heritage site, Osun Osogbo, there is a strategic plan in place on how we can improve on our tourism for economic development,” he stated.

He promised that the team would make make necessary recommendation for Governor Rauf Aregbesola, assuring that the state would make enough money from tourism.
