Wikki Tourists Technical Adviser, Abdul Maikaba has reiterated his determination to ensure that the team wins the league trophy in this year’s Glo premier league competition with just eight matches to the end of the league.
The former Kano Pillars tactician disclosed this to sportswriters on Sunday after his side beat visiting Bayelsa United 2-0 in one of the week 30 encounter played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
He said the team has a glaring chance to win the league as their target is to win the league trophy and with more determination, they can still make it, saying they would work hard to grab the maximum points against Enyimba in Aba this coming weekend.
Also speaking the Bayelsa United Coach, George Ederekumoh blamed his players for not playing to his instructions that resulted to their defeat, saying the best side won the match.
“They did not play to my instructions, we wouldn’t have lost the match but because of carelessness by the players as they changed the formation of the game which caused us the defeat” he added.
Wikki scored their two goals through Mubarak Umar in the 15 minutes of play and Nafi’u Bala in the 72minutes of play that demoralized the visiting team. Mubarak now has 10 goals in his kitty since the commencement of the league this season.
What makes the game looks more competitive was the center referee Marwanu Bala from Sokoto state who used his eagle eyes in penalizing pretenders’ players from both sides that seek for favor, as he perfectly took control of the match from the beginning to the end.
