Anambra State Police Command has made another breakthrough yesterday, when16 persons allegedly involved in various criminal activities were paraded.
During the parade at the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, complex, Awkuzu, in Oyi Local Government Area of the state, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ali Okechukwu commended the people of the area for availing the police of useful information to achieve the feat while thanking the state governor for his assistance to the police in the state.
He assured of the readiness of the police in the state to make this year’s yuletide period peaceful and crime-free.
Okechukwu said among the suspected armed robbers paraded was one Chinenye Egeonu of No 3 Ugoji Street, Aba, who allegedly snatched a trailer load of cement belonging to a popular businessman in the country.
According to the PPRO, “In October 3, 2015, on a tip off, SARS went to Aba and recovered the trailer truck with reg. No. SML314 XA, and arrested one Chinenye Egeonu ‘m’ of No3 Ugoji Street, Aba. Suspect is undergoing interrogations.”
He said Maxwell Obemana, Chukwunonso Nwosu, Ugochukwu Simon, all male, attached to Udide Vigilante Service in Awka were arrested for armed robbery and rape of one Amaka, an undergraduate of a higher institution in the state.
Continuing, Okechukwu said among those paraded was a gang of bandits who at gunpoint collected Mack trailer with reg No. SMK 575 loaded with 187 Daylong motorcycles (uncoupled).
He also said on tip off, SARS arrested one Ebuka of Arochukwu, Ifeanyi Udeozor of Awgwu in Enugu State and recovered the truck with 87 Daylong motorcycles.
The police spokesman said one Ebube Okeke (Ihiala), Chijioke Okwueso (Okija), Onyedika Kennedy (Enugu) and Ujunwa Ikwuka (Ihiala) were arrested for robbing one Amah Chinyere Theodore of Umunamehi, Ihiala, of her Toyota Rav-4 jeep with Reg. No KJA852 BC at gun point.
Okechukwu also informed that in the case of one Emmanuel Eze and Irochukwu Ohamara, they were arrested for allegedly robbing N300,000 from a retired army Colonel in a new generation bank in Ogidi, Idemili Local government Area of the state.
Also paraded was an undergraduate of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli, (name withheld) who was said to belong to Ma5 cult group and was arrested while forcing a fellow student into the confraternity.
