Dissenting voices have continued to trail the April 11 gubernatorial and houses of assembly elections in Rivers State.
As at yesterday, available results from the Independent National Electoral Commission in Rivers State indicated that the APC won two out of the 16 local government results released so far while the PDP won in 14 LGAs.
The total results accruing to the APC as at yesterday 94,410 while the PDP’s total votes were 737,156,00.
Leading the pack of those who condemned the INEC released results, the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi had earlier described the governorship and house of assembly elections in the state as a sham.
Governor Amaechi stated this based on his observation that the elections were fraught with irregularities.
Also, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the state, Charles Harry who spoke on behalf of the APC candidate, Dakuku Peterside and the SDP candidate, Ibim Harry at a press briefing yesterday in Port Harcourt, said the elections were
marred by irregularities.
He alleged that there were widespread rigging, maiming and shooting and harassment of voters generally.
He said “the high levels of violence and misconduct recorded in almost all areas of the state, leave us as bearers of our peoples destiny ,with no choice other than to insist that , the purported said elections held in Rivers State in April 11, must be cancelled because it does not reflect the will of our people.
