Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, convention billed for August 17th in Port Harcourt, the National Vice Chairman North west, Ambassador Ibrahim Kazaure said it has set up a 12-man committee to produce candidates to fill positions zoned to the region.
Kazaure stated this during the meeting of stakeholders from North West states held in Kaduna yesterday to strategise and discuss the positions ahead of the convention.
He said no individual could be attached to any of the positions which according to him, was as a result of many interested persons hence the need for the committee to meet this coming Friday to look into the various interest and come out with an agreed positions of the northwest.
He said that eleven positions has been zoned to the north, with North west having four positions, North east three positions and the North central having four positions.
Ambassador Kazaure further informed that the positions of the National Secretary, National Woman leader, Deputy Legal Adviser and Deputy Treasurer has been zoned to the northwest.
Meanwhile, the positions zoned to the North West will be shared amongst the old Sokoto state comprising of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States, the old Kano State comprising of Kano and Jigawa States and the old Kaduna State comprising of Kaduna and Katsina States.
“The states that makes up the old Sokoto states ‎will produce the National Secretary, while Kaduna State will produce the National Woman leader” he said.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting are the National caretaker committee chairman, Senator ‎ Mohammed Ahmed Makarfi, Former Governors Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Attairu Bafarawa (Sokoto) Mallam Ibrahim Shakarau (Kano) Ibrahim Shema (Katsina) and Ramalan Yero (Kaduna).
Also in attendance is the former Aviation Minister (state) and now Kaduna State Chairman of the party, former Organising Secretary, Mustapha Abubakar, former Kaduna State deputy governor Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga among others including state party chairmen from the Northwest zone.
