In a statement from the office of the chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, in Uyo yesterday, he urged Buhari to be fair in his dealings with Nigerians irrespective of their tribe or religion.
The Forum said that accepting defeat by the President had placed Nigeria in the forefront of the rule of law and the practice of democracy in the African continent.
It commended President Jonathan for accepting the result of the March 28, 2015 presidential election and for his statesmanlike disposition in congratulating in real time, the President–Elect, even before the final collation and announcement of the result of the polls.
“With this, President Jonathan has destroyed the sit-tight syndrome associated with African leaders, and placed Nigeria as a beacon of true democracy to the rest of Africans and indeed, the global community.
The Forum urged PDP faithful to remain united and to display their strength by returning more than 20 PDP governors in next week’s gubernatorial elections.
