Katsina state governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has dissolved the 34 local government councils in the state.
In a press statement signed by Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, directed council chairmen to hand over the affairs of their council to Directors of Finance and Administration, DFA.
The statement said the dissolution of the council was in line with section 80A of the amended local government law.
Reacting on the dissolution, Chairman of the state PDP, Salisu Yusuf Magigiri described the action of Governor Masari as illegal, which contravened section 7 of the amended 1999 constitution.
Majigiri, who spoke through Rabiu Gambo Bakori directed council chairmen not to hand over the affairs of the councils.
He said the party had already instituted legal action against the government and the latter should wait for the outcome of the court verdict.
Majigiri appealed to supporters of the party to remain calm, assuring that the outcome of the court ruling expected this week would be positive.
