Former member of the House of Representatives, Bitrus Kaze, yesterday dismissed assertions that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was dead instead insisted that the party was only experiencing a temporary setback.
Kaze, who represented Jos South / Jos East federal constituency, faulted those claiming that the PDP would never again ascended to power but expressed optimism that the party would regain power in 2019.
Though he lamented the party’s lose of Plateau state in the last governorship elections which he attributed to anti party activities of some members, he however thinks that the party would re-organise itself and return to power soonest.
“The All Progressive Congress, APC in Plateau did not win the governorship elections in the state because it is a popular party. The People of Plateau are PDP and Plateau is the traditional home of the Party. We lost the governorship elections because of some mistakes made by not allowing zoning formula to take effect.
“In the state there was every need for power to shift to the Southern Zone and that our party did not adhere to and that was a costly mistake” but I believe that if the party puts its house in order, PDP would win the governorship elections come 2015 “.
“PDP is not dead as the setback is just temporal, PDP would correct its mistakes and come back stronger. I strongly believe we will come back in 2019 to take what we lost in this year’s elections “our party PDP would properly re-organise to bring our party back to its formidable political strength .”
“If members of the PDP remain committed to the vision of its founding fathers and work very hard, the Party will return to power at the Federal level and Plateau in 2019, he further added.
