All 13 National Assembly seats contested in last week’s National Assembly elections in Akwa Ibom state have been won by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Nigerian Pilot Sunday reports that the PDP won in the three senatorial districts and defeated candidates from other parties to win the 10 House of Representatives seats in the state.
Governor Godswill Akpabio (PDP) was returned after he defeated Inibehe Okori (APC) for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Mr. Bassey Albert, former state finance commissioner also of the PDP defeated Mr. Emmanuel Obot (APC) and Ekere Afia (Accord Party) to clinch the Uyo Senatorial District.
Former state Assembly Speaker Chief Nelson Effiong (PDP) also beat Mr Bassey Etienam (APC), a lawmaker in the state assembly to win in Eket Senatorial District.
Mr. Mike Onyong (PDP), Current State Assembly Speaker Mr. Sam Ikonn (PDP) and Dr Henry Archibong (PDP) won the House of Representatives elections for Uyo, Etinan and Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituencies respectively.
Current Chief Whip of the state assembly Mr Emmanuel Akpan (PDP), Mr Iboro Ekanem (PDP), incumbents Mr Emmanuel Ukoette and Mr Emmanuel Ekon (PDP) also won in Ikot Ekpene, Ikono/Ini, Ukanafaun/Oruk Anam and Abak Federal Constituencies respectively.
Ex state PDP Vice Chairman Mr Nse Ekpeyong, the only woman that was elected Mrs Owodie Ekpotai, and Mr Charles Udoyok, all of the PDP also won in Oron, Eket and Ikot Abasi Federal constituencies to complete the clean swoop for the party.
